When I tap on attachments the icon switches to download, the 'Wheel of Doom' churns then I get the message: Cannot Download Attachment? Any help would be gratefully received. IPhone can download and save email attachments such as music, videos and documents. Although you can view most attachments within the email, downloading them directly to your iPhone is useful if you want to review them later.

Downloading a file from an email and saving it on your computer is pretty easy. I’ll show you how to download in AOL Mail, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail and Gmail.
Before You Download an Attachment
Warning: Don’t click on any attachment you receive from someone you don’t know – even just to view it – no matter how inviting the accompanying message. This is the way so-called “malware” or viruses can invade your computer and seriously disrupt your its functioning. Always be sure that you can trust the sender of an attachment before opening.
Downloading a file in AOL mail
1. Once you’ve opened the email, locate the attachment (look for an icon in the email that looks like a paperclip).
2. Click on the paperclip; a new screen will open that looks like this
3. Next, double-click on the attachment highlighted in green and this window will open
4. You can first click on “Open” to see the contents of the attachment (a picture for example, or a document) or click directly on “Save” to save the attachment in the folder of your choosing. Remember which folder you’ve saved it to so that you can find the document when you need to; saving to a “Downloads” folder can make this easier.
Downloading a file in Hotmail
1. Once you’ve opened the email, locate the attachment (look for an icon in the email that looks like a paperclip).
2. Click on the paperclip; a new screen will open that looks like this
3. The image above shows a Microsoft Word attachment (it looks like a page with a “W”); a photo attachment will be a square with a picture symbol instead. Double-click on the MS Word or picture icon. A window will open that looks like this
